Tatum Diamond makes luxury hand-crafted bags and accessories. Rather than focused on 'fast fashion', the Enterprise Nation member is encouraging customers to join the 'slow fashion' movement. She promotes quality over quantity and pieces that will enhance your wardrobe for a lifetime.

How did you come up with your business idea?

My husband bought me a one-day handbag making course. That was it; I was hooked. I've had a life-long fascination with handbags. At their best, they are assurance, art, and armour. An extension of the inner woman, and a companion for life. When the course was over I danced home, my imagination on fire. I was going to start my own luxury handmade handbag company. And that was that.

It’s been hard work, trust me. Fighting each day for a dream that no one else can really see. I'm led by my heart, and much more of a doer than a planner. My first move was finding a supplier for my vegetable tanned leather. Then I started experimenting with designs. I couldn't wait to make it, hold it and use it.

The lovely Tamara from Incredibly Social did a 2 minutes with… Me! She shines the spotlight on some of amazing
with a series of 2 minute interviews.

Here’s a little peak of what you can expect…

Why did you start your business?

I had fallen out of love with my previous job as a digital design consultant and craved the opportunity to own the complete process. Now I do everything, from designing and making my beautiful bags to managing my PR and marketing.

Etsy sellers in Richmond kindly shone their ‘spotlight on...’ my small business…

“We are talking to the wonderful Tatum who makes leather accessories ✨

Why do you make?
I developed a bit of a 👜 obsession in my 20’s, I’ve always loved making things, but it wasn't until I my hubby sent me on a bag making workshop that I found my passion for leather. It is a wonderfully tactile and flexible material, which can be turned into so many things. I’m thrilled to be able to combine my love for bags with my passion for the environment.

Where do you make?
I’ve converted a spare room of our South West London, into my studio. It’s mostly organised chaos with beautiful leathers and suedes waiting to be turned into gorgeous bags and accessories.

What is your typical day?
Wake up, check instagram and think about what I should post, though I don’t always get as far as actually posting anything. Breakfast, take Milo the 🐶 for a walk and then it’s down to business. I’ve been spending lots of time on the computer lately, working on brand awareness. When I’m not doing that, I’m in my studio, making bags and working on expanding my range.
